Privacy policy
How Opposite collects, uses, stores and discloses personal information through Oppolab.

Who we are
Oppolab is part of Opposite. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” mean The Trustee for Duck Family Trust, trading as Opposite (ABN 34 551 762 576), based in Victoria, Australia. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
Questions about privacy go to hello@opposite.com.au.
What we collect, and from whom
- Enquiries. When you use one of our forms (to scope a program, request a quote or an invoice, or get in touch from a free tool), we collect your name, email address and anything else you choose to tell us, such as your organisation, group size, timing and message.
- Purchases. When you buy from the shop we collect your name, email address, phone number, billing and delivery address and, if you give it, your organisation. Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
- Assessments. For the Leadership 360, the leader or their organisation gives us the names, email addresses and working relationship of the people they nominate as raters, so we can invite them. Raters and survey participants then give us their answers. Some Psychosocial Risk questions ask about workload, stress and wellbeing, which can be sensitive information; we collect it only with the participant’s consent and use it only for that assessment. The collection statement shown to participants explains this in short form.
- Free tools. Our free diagnostics, card sorts and games run in your browser. Your answers are not sent to us. Career Lighthouse and Explore Your Values save your progress on your own device only. The one exception is when you choose to contact us from the AI Maturity Index and leave “include my results” ticked, in which case your scores are sent with your message.
- Technical information. Like any website, the services that host and deliver this site receive your IP address and basic browser information when you visit. We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking tools.
How we use it
- To reply to your enquiry and give you the quote, invoice or information you asked for.
- To process, deliver and support your order, and to issue tax invoices and receipts.
- To run assessments, produce reports and hold debriefs.
- To meet our legal obligations, such as tax record-keeping.
- To improve our tools and programs, using only aggregated or de-identified information.
We only send you marketing, such as our Lab Notes newsletter, if you have asked for it, and every email has an unsubscribe link. We do not sell or rent personal information.
Assessment and survey data
- Where it is stored. Survey responses are stored on Australian-based servers.
- Who can see it. Only the Opposite staff working on the engagement can see raw responses.
- What your organisation receives. Results are reported in aggregate. Individual responses are never given to an employer.
- Psychosocial Risk Assessment. We do not report results for any group of fewer than eight people.
- Leadership 360. Rater feedback is anonymous, with one exception: the line manager’s rating is identified. If fewer than six raters respond, we contact the buyer before going ahead, because anonymity may be hard to protect.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only with the service providers who help us run Oppolab, and only as much as they need:
- Cloudflare hosts this site and runs its forms and checkout.
- Stripe processes payments.
- Resend delivers the emails our forms send to us.
- Google Workspace hosts our email.
- Google Fonts, Fontshare, Cloudinary, cdnjs and unpkg deliver the fonts, images and code the pages load, and so receive your IP address.
Some of these providers store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States. Assessment and survey responses stay on Australian-based servers.
We may also disclose information where the law requires or allows it, for example to a regulator or law enforcement agency.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries: for as long as we need to respond and follow up, and for up to two years after our last contact with you.
- Orders and invoices: for at least five years, as Australian tax law requires.
- Raw survey responses: deleted 24 months after the assessment closes. Reports contain aggregated results only.
When we no longer need information, we delete it or de-identify it.
Keeping it secure
We use reputable providers, encrypted connections (HTTPS) for everything on this site, and access controls so that only the people who need information can see it. No system is perfectly secure, but if a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we will tell you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, as the law requires.
Accessing or correcting your information
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by emailing hello@opposite.com.au. We will respond within 30 days. Because assessment surveys are designed to be anonymous, we may not be able to identify an individual’s responses once they are submitted.
Making a complaint
If you are concerned about how we have handled your personal information, email hello@opposite.com.au and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
Cookies and browser storage
This site does not set cookies and does not use analytics or advertising trackers.
It does use your browser’s local storage, which stays on your device, to remember your cart between pages and to save your progress in some free tools. You can clear it at any time through your browser’s settings.
Stripe’s checkout page, which opens on stripe.com, sets its own cookies to process your payment and prevent fraud. Those are covered by Stripe’s privacy policy.
